Fearless and unswervingly loyal to the Emperor, stormtroopers are the most recognized symbol of Imperial might.  Encased in white armor over black body gloves, stormtroopers make up the bulk of Palpatine's ground-based armies and the space-based Imperial starfleet. Their fearsome looking helmets allow the soldiers to breathe in the harshest of environments, including the vacuum of space.  They are also equipped with long range communications allowing these elite shock troops to be deployed with speed and efficiency to quell insurrections and maintain order across the many worlds of the Empire.

The distinctive design of the stormtrooper was originally created by concept artist Ralph McQuarrie in 1975. McQuarrie generated several proposals for the Empire's general infantry.

During pre-production of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, several versions of the stormtrooper helmet were prototyped for George Lucas to review. The various elements that George liked from each version were incorporated into the final, menacing form we know today. The original helmet was hand sculpted, is asymmetrical in geometry, and features an infamous "sty" beneath its right eye.

Approximately 60 helmets were simply made from vacuum formed polyethylene and painted white for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. A number of these helmets were modified for use in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, and additional helmets were later made for Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

Our engineers digitally scanned and cast a screen used original helmet to reproduce all of the subtle nuances of the hand sculpted original to ensure an authentic piece worthy of your Star Wars replica collection.

eFX would like to thank the Kurtz/Joiner archive for loaning their original helmet enabling us to recreate this important piece of Star Wars memorabilia.
