The original Mark IX Science Tricorder prop holsters were vacuum formed from a textured material that closely resembles the material used to make the original series Communicator bodies back in the 1960s.

For our replica we made an injection molded tool and replicated the pattern of the material on the surface to make a more robust and durable holster while remaining faithful in all details. The original clips used on the back of the holster to attach them to the Starfleet uniforms were US Military stock. In the interests of authenticity we sourced a supply from a US government auction and installed these original clips on the back of our replicas.
